Treewild Forest Classroom is a one-day alternative school that supports and supplements a regular school week with generous outdoor exploration and in-depth academics. We run from October through May once a week from 9 to 3. Treewild is on Thompson Road, in Shelburne, Vermont.
Treewild students must be in elementary or middle school, ages 5 to 14. We group children in generous multi-age classrooms. Your child must be mature enough to be able to walk for several hours in the woods. Treewild days balance focused group time for learning and sharing with active discovery across the LaPlatte River ecosystem.
Treewild does not usually take off for weather. We love rain, mud, snow, ice, and all the adventures that come with embracing nature to the fullest. We encourage appropriate clothing and use a variety of warming techniques to keep the children comfortable. We take a child’s safety quite seriously, while stretching their capabilities by developing both resiliance and tenacity.
Treewild is located at 338 Thompson Road in Shelburne, Vermont. Please reach out if you’re ready to visit.
Treewild Forest Classroom is a year-long commitment. Tuition is $330 per month, paid at the beginning of each four-month semester, in October and in February. The deposit applies to the first month’s tuition. If you are wait-listed, we will return the deposit.
We are committed to being available to ALL children. Any family who would struggle to meet the cost is welcome to participate in the scholarship program.
Families are strongly encouraged to make a monthly contribution to the scholarship fund so that we can fully support everyone who needs assistance. Treewild is a 501-c3 non-profit, so your contribution can be part of your charitable giving.
Treewild runs Borderlands and Winterdeep, outdoor performances that support the scholarship program, and we depend on Treewild families to help with those events.
Treewild operates on the traditional unceded lands of the Abenaki people. We are grateful for their heritage and strive to honor the land and all who live here with gratitude and respect.
We welcome you into our world of wonder, adventure, discovery and play!
